SAFE in Noble: Annual and Monthly Meeting Updates

SAFE in Noble: Annual and Monthly Meeting Updates

The past few days have been busy for us at SAFE in Noble as we wrapped up both our yearly meeting and the latest monthly meeting with the company. These sessions marked significant progress for our club and its members.

A New Leader for SAFE in Noble

As I’ve always emphasized, having a Norwegian leader who shares our club’s principles and prioritizes members above all else was essential. After careful consideration, I’ve stepped back from the working committee, and the board has unanimously voted for Steinar Skarsvåg to become our new club leader.

I will remain on the board as vice chairman to fully support Steinar, along with Thomas and Barbro, as we work together to ensure the club’s continued success.

New Changes to Club Statutes

To align with our values and promote fairness, we’ve made important updates to the club’s statutes:

1. Leadership Term Limits: The club leader can serve a maximum of two 4-year terms.

2. Eligibility Requirements for Board Candidates: Anyone standing for election to the board must have valid offshore certification, including current board members.

These changes reflect our commitment to staying connected to the workforce and ensuring all members have the opportunity to contribute and lead.

We discussed various ongoing issues and areas of concern, including Bank IDs for members without a home address in Norway, the Relief Pool, and the use of agencies. Planning for the year ahead was a key topic, including organizing tariff meetings and ensuring Steinar participates in all relevant SAFE schools.

It was agreed to hold our quarterly/shop stewards meeting in Stavanger to facilitate easier access for visitors from the company and SAFE house. The remaining quarterly meetings will be held at airport locations to optimize our time for members’ business.

Company Monthly Meeting Highlights

During the monthly meeting, we addressed several key issues:

1. KHVO and VO Organization

• The company confirmed that Anders Blom remains the only KHVO, and the VO organization continues as usual.

• Anders reassured us in a follow-up discussion that he has a good working relationship with Frank Fosse, who will stay on as his assistant. Anders also emphasized that his door is always open for anyone who needs support.

2. Electrical Maintenance Concerns

• We raised concerns about the electrical position on the rigs and the outsourcing of EX maintenance. We believe the technical department needs an additional electrician to handle these responsibilities effectively.

• This issue will be escalated through the VO organization to the central AMU.

• In the meantime, we will ensure that agency electricians are paid appropriately, as this work is part of our rigs’ maintenance program.

Moving Forward

These developments reflect our ongoing commitment to representing you, our members, and advocating for the best outcomes in all areas. We will continue to work hard on your behalf and keep you informed of any updates.

Thank you for your trust and support. Together, we will ensure a strong and united future for SAFE in Noble.
